How to join this database & transfer your data

Overall information

Article titles and summaries/abstracts (in original) of all the articles published in academically recognised European journals are translated into English and French and uploaded in the database.
E.g.: Someone in France or Italy may be looking for information on HR reforms in Turkey, or examples of decentralisation in Europe. By using the database researchers can search for content in several fields using a variety of search functions: the article’s title, the name of the author, journal title, journal country, language of the article, the abstract and the theme of the article. Each journal is responsible for providing the information that is inserted in the database.
When a researcher has found a relevant article, (s)he can read the abstract, contact the author or the journal editor or the journal website.

Protocol for the transfer of information to the database

The content of the database is provided by the journals that are included in the network. The participating journals should submit the data to Anita Van Gils, who is responsible for the technical side of the project. The submission process works through an Excel file, of which a screenshot is shown below. In this file, standard information about the articles has to be included. More technical information can be found in the Excel file (excell). To avoid problems in transfering data to the database:

please never user the 'enter' tab or signs like " in your data!

We ask participating journals to submit the data once or twice every year. Once the Excel file is submitted, it should take less than a month before the content is included in the database.

Abstracts provided should be long enough to understand what the article is actually about (we think that this is difficult to do with less than 100 words). While imposing a standard format on all journals (e.g. research question, theory used, research methodology, results) may be difficult (especially for articles written by or for practitioners), we do advise editors to think about bringing some structure into their abstracts.

Researchers who are interested in one of the articles in the database, can do four things. They can contact the author, order a translation, use their contacts in the journal’s country or contact the person responsible for the journal. We ask editors to help researchers in the latter case.

Since it is the intention that people frequently use the database, we kindly ask participating journals to advertise the database on their journal’s website.

When you want to join the network: please contact the responsible for contacts: Steven Van Roosbroek
